St. Barnabas Cool Kid

Full Day Transitional Kindergarten

Are you looking for a great school environment for your 4 year old? St. Barnabas’ full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is for children who are 4 years old by September 1. It bridges the path between preschool and Kindergarten, providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Kindergarten standards.

It is a full-day program (7:50 am to 2:50 pm Monday to Thursday and 7:50 am to 12:30 pm on Friday), and students can also take advantage of our pre and post school daycare program which is open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, every day.

St. Barnabas Parish School is a community of students, parents, clergy, and staff whose daily lives give witness to our Catholic Christian faith and values. Understanding our place in our world as Lifelong Learners, we share in the continuing mission of Jesus through prayer, liturgies, active service, and caring citizenship.

St. Barnabas Preschool is an extension of our Elementary School. It is designed to prepare our students for the academic challenges of our Transitional-Kindergarten program. The curriculum is carefully planned to include an even balance of academics and active play. Religion and character development are important parts of our students’ development. Both Full and Part day options are available.

Curriculum:

  • Phonics introduced with letter recognition and formation
  • Math is introduced with number recognition and formation
  • Gross and Fine motor skills are practiced continuously throughout the day
  • Socialization and active play are encouraged as an integral part of the school day.

Character Development

St. Barnabas Preschool encourages positive reinforcement and supports the philosophy that natural consequence is the most developmentally appropriate way to foster positive behavior.

Admission

St. Barnabas Preschool is licensed by the state of California. All admission guidelines are strictly enforced.

  • Children must be 3 ½ years of age to begin attendance.
  • All students must be completely potty trained.
  • All required paperwork, medical records, and legal documents must be on file prior to attendance.
Fees
  • Registration Fee: $130
  • Materials / PTO Fee:     $270
  • Full Time Tuition (7:50 am to 2:50 pm Monday-Thursday, 7:50 am to 12:30 pm Friday):    $3,800
  • Part Time Tuition (7:50 am to 12:30 pm Monday – Friday): $3,300

Open House

Please join us on Sunday, January 27th for St. Barnabas School’s annual Open House.The classrooms and school building will be open from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. Check in at the school office for a guided tour with one of our school parents and student council member.

Each class will highlight our academic excellence through assignments, projects, and displays as well as featuring examples of our strong Catholic Identity. Our teachers will be available to answer questions about the curriculum and school standards. Talk to our student council members about the many community service opportunities offered at St. Barnabas School. Let us show you how we live the Catholic School motto of Faith, Knowledge, and Service!

In addition to providing a quality Catholic education aligned with the Archdiocesan and California State standards for our Preschool through 8th grade students, St. Barnabas School is proud to provide:

  • Common Core instruction in Language Arts and Mathematics for grades TK through 8
  • Spanish instruction for grades TK through 8.
  • Advanced Math classes for grades 5 through 8.
  • Daily classes in religious instruction. Weekly attendance at Mass, with special observance of the First Friday devotion. Bi-annual participation in the sacrament of Reconciliation. Weekly Sunday gospel preparation.
  • Meet the Masters art appreciation program for grades Kindergarten through 8.
  • Two multi-media centers including library materials and iPads/Laptops.

St. Barnabas School also offers its families:

  • A safe campus with security camera access onto the property.
  • Affordable Extended Day Care beginning at 6:30AM and ending at 6:00PM.
  • Monthly School Family and class buddy activities.
  • Hot lunches (with multiple entrée options) available for purchase daily.
